In order to create a relaxing atmosphere in this Florida guest bathroom remodel, Upscale Kitchen & Bath owner Royce Amsden positioned a backlit Calacatta marble wall behind a white slipper tub and custom shower.

The firm specializes in stone panels that illuminate a space with 12-inch-by-12-inch dimmable LED panels that shine through 5 millimeters (a little less than ¼ inch) of natural stone backed with fiberglass and reinforced with semi-translucent PVC.

Here, Amsden creates a band of light on the upper portion of the wall that connects the 3-foot-by-6-foot shower area to the warmly lit bath cove.

To permit continuous movement throughout the bathroom, the recessed shower has a threshold-free entry, but a sheet of glass separates the space from the rest of the bathroom. Hidden features include a linear drain under the free-floating bench and a recessed shampoo caddy.

Calacatta marble is used for the countertops and in 3-inch hexagon tile on the floor. Dark cabinetry provides contrast, while an electric mirror adds illumination.
