OSHA Cites Illinois Contractor for Exposing Roofers to Fall Hazards

The agency has cited companies owned by the contractor for fall violations 12 times since 2013.

OSHA cited residential contractor Florentino Rodriguez of DB Custom Carpentry for exposing employees to falls at a jobsite in Wheaton, Ill., according to a news release from the agency. Rodriguez faces penalties totaling $196,905 for one serious and two willful safety violations.

Agency inspectors observed employees of Rodriguez working without adequate fall protection while working on a roof at a residential worksite. DB Custom Carpentry was also cited for failing to train employees on fall protection and safe forklift operations.

OSHA has cited companies owned by Rodriguez 12 times for fall violations since 2013. Rodriguez owes more than $797,000 in outstanding penalties, which OSHA has referred to the Department of Treasury for debt collection, according to the news release.

DB Custom Cabinetry has 15 business days from receipt of its citations and penalties to comply, contest the findings, or request an informal conference with their OSHA area director.
