Sandy-Damaged House Destroyed in Fall From Cribbing

Insult is added to injury as this Long Island home is destroyed for a second time. The owner vows to rebuild (again).

Elevating a house is a risky process — as one Long Island homeowner learned the hard way last week. Randy Stewart of Babylon, New York, was in the yard of his house when the building toppled off its cribbing. Amateur YouTube video captures the moment the house on Yacht Club Road finally plunged all the way to the ground after one last shove by two excavators (below).

New York’s Fox 5 News interviews homeowner Stewart here, and provides a photo gallery of the ruined building (see: “Rebuilt Sandy-damaged home wrecked again,” by Jessica Formoso. Stewart told the station that he plans to rebuild again.
