Woodturning gets a hold of some people and won’t let go. Sören Berger is clearly one of those people.

He’s so into woodturning that in the video below he chucks a section of a radiata pine log into his lathe and turns it into a lampshade. The finish shade is so thin light passes through it.

So what, if anything, does this have to do with tools? Well, there’s the lathe, Berger’s shop, some very cool calipers, and the light he uses to gauge the thickness of what he is turning. And even if there were no tools in this video, there’s something soothing about watching someone turn wood, especially big pieces of wood.
