Revamped Classics. Stanley has redesigned some of its most popular hand planes. The new Nos. 4 (top) and 62 bench planes and Nos. 9 1/2 (bottom) and 60 1/2 block planes have a blade bed and tool body cast as a single piece of ductile iron and feature adjustable mouths and threaded Norris-type adjusters for the extra-thick A2 irons. The tools are noticeably heavier and better constructed than their predecessors. The bench and block planes cost $170 and $99 respectively; a soon-to-come shoulder plane (92) is expected to be $99.
