Labor Day is a time to honor those who have dedicated themselves to the social and economic achievements of American workers. Like those who came before them, the companies that have been named to our annual Big50 list have poured their blood, sweat and tears into their businesses. These experts have made a notable mark on a local and national scale and exemplify the values of the remodeling industry.

In 2015, we launched the audio series Big50 Bites so we could hear first hand from these pros what it takes to become a success and celebrate their achievements. Here we have gathered our top 5 conversations so far. Whether they’re sharing critical advice on how to best market a business or offering tips on ways to embrace change, these experts have offered valuable insight that will provide you with the fuel to march forward and achieve your own goals.

First up, Paul Kocharhook, owner of Pathway Design & Construction in Seattle, discusses remodeling with air quality in mind.

Next, Abbie Sladick of Abbie Joan Fine Living in Naples, FL., talks about how she creates emotionally compelling marketing.

No. 3 on our list of favorites is Matt Millsap’s simple yet significant advice. Listen as the president of Nashville-based Building Company No. 7 shares some surprising words of encouragement he received from several industry veterans.

Coming in fourth is Maida Korte, principal of Designs By Maida, based in the greater Chicago area. Listen as she discusses the value of maintaining positive industry relationships and the secrets to do so.

In this edition, we deviated from our regular format to celebrate the release of our exclusive 2016 Cost vs. Value report. Here we share commentary from five of this year’s Big50 honorees who explain how they use the report as an effective business tool and why it is important for their operations.
