Two New Rotary Hammers From DeWalt

A cordless and corded rotary hammer are on the way - each with its own specs and benefits.

DeWalt has two new rotary hammers on the way – one cordless FlexVolt and the other a corded version. The cordless FLexVolt features a brushless motor, has a drill range of 1/2 inch to 1 1/8 inches and includes what DeWalt calls “e-clutch technology.” In simple terms, e-clutch won’t throw you off a ladder or staging if it binds up. An internal sensor triggers the motor to rev down to about 2% of its speed – so it doesn’t stop the drill completely, but it dramatically slows it down within a tenth of a second. The cordless rotary hammer will ship with two 9.0-Ah FlexVolt batteries and a charger for $799. It’s due out in March. www.dewalt.com
