Los Angeles Will Require Reflective “Cool” Roofing

The Los Angeles City Council voted on Tuesday to make “cool roof” materials mandatory on new and remodeled homes in the city, according to a report on the ThinkProgress website (see: “Los Angeles Becomes First Major City To Require ‘Cool Roofs’,” by Ari Phillips).

Heat-reflective roof upgrades already qualify for industry rebates and incentives in many parts of California. For a list of utility and municipal incentive programs and links, see the “Roof Rebates and Incentives” page at the CoolCalifornia.org website.
