The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) announced that CEO Fred Ulreich has stepped down from his position effective immediately, according to a June 26 press release.

David Pekel, president of the NARI National Board of Directors, will serve as interim CEO while the organization searches for a replacement.

Ulreich, who resigned Friday, June 22, commuted on a weekly basis from Grand Rapids, Mich., to Des Plaines., Ill., where the NARI headquarters are located. Resigning as CEO will give him “more time to spend with family as he pursues other professional interests,” according to the press release.

Ulreich has been CEO since May 2014, when he succeeded Mary Harris. He had joined NARI in September 2013 following stints at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Wells Fargo, and Affinity Center International.
