A hedgerow near the side of the deck and the placement of the main deck lower to the ground provide privacy for the owners of this urban Seattle home. Benches and planters complete the sitting area. To minimize maintenance costs, the deck was finished with Fiberon composite decking and stair treads and white Azek cellular PVC risers.
Ron Spillers and Joel Skillingstead of West Coast Decks in Seattle, Washington have been building decks since 1990. Recently, they added a DJI Phantom 2 Vision quadcopter to their toolkit to take aerial photos and videos of their projects. In the next issue of PDB, we’ll take a closer look at their quadcopter and how it has become one of their favorite marketing tools. To get a birds-eye view of a few of their recently-completed decks, view the slideshow.
Here’s a video recorded by their drone of a deck under construction.
