OSHA has cited Stanley, N.Y.-based Proctor Enterprises, doing business as Proctor Roofing and Contracting, for exposing employees to fall hazards at a worksite. The roofing contractor faces $116,686 for the alleged violations, which include two willful violations of OSHA standards.
Agency officials cited Proctor Roofing and Contracting for failing to provide employees with fall protection while they installed roofing materials and for using ladders that did not extend at least three feet above upper landings for required stability. OSHA previously cited Proctor in 2015 and 2016 for fall-related violations at separate jobsites in New York, with fines totaling less than $40,000.
“Falls are the leading cause of work-related injuries and fatalities in construction,” OSHA Syracuse, N.Y., area director Jeffrey Prebish said in an agency news release. “This company’s failure to provide legally required fall protection places workers at risk for serious injuries.”
Proctor has 15 days from receipt of the citations and proposed penalties to comply, request an informal hearing with its OSHA area director, or contest the findings.
