OSHA has cited South Florida roofing company TarHeel for exposing employees to safety hazards, according to a news release. A TarHeel employee suffered fatal injuries as a result of a fall while working on a job in Naples, Fla.

OSHA cited the roofer for failing to provide employees with fall protection systems while at work, for failing to train employees on proper procedures to use fall protection systems, and for failing to train employees operating industrial trucks. TarHeel faces $32,013 in penalties for its alleged violations.

Condell Eastmond, the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., OSHA area director, said the incident could have been prevented had the roofing company followed OSHA’s fall protection standards, according to the news release. TarHeel has 15 business days from the receipt of the citations to comply, request an informal conference with its OSHA area director, or contest the findings.
