OSHA has cited Fort Myers, Fla., roofing contractor Ad-Ler Roofing for exposing employees to dangerous falls, according to a news release from the agency. The roofer was cited for work at a Naples, Fla., worksite shortly after similar violations were found at another Ad-Ler Roofing worksite. The contractor faces proposed penalties of $91,466.
OSHA began an inspection of Ad-Ler Roofing as part of the agency’s Regional Emphasis Program for Falls in Construction after inspectors observed the company’s employees were performing roofing activities without fall protection. Ad-Ler Roofing was cited in June and July for failing to protect employees from fall hazards.
“Companies are required to provide employees with fall protection when they work at heights of 6 feet or higher,” Fort Lauderdale OSHA area office director Condell Eastmond said. “Ad-Ler Roofing is putting workers at risk of serious injury by failing to comply with OSHA’s fall protection standards.”
Ad-Ler Roofing has 15 days from the receipt of the citations and penalties to either comply, request an informal conference with the OSHA area director, or contest the findings.
