OSHA has cited two Florida roofers for exposing employees to fall hazards at a St. Augustine worksite, according to a news release. Derek Williams, operating as Elo Restoration, and Travis Slaughter, operating as Florida Roofing Experts, each face the maximum allowable penalty of $129,336.
The inspection of the two companies was initiated as part of OSHA’s Regional Emphasis Program on Falls in Construction after receiving a complaint that employees were performing residential roofing activities without fall protection. The companies were cited for failing to ensuring workers were attached to a fall protection system.
Both companies have 15 days from the receipt of their citations and proposed penalties to either comply, request an informal conference with their OSHA area director, or contest the findings.
