New at the DeckExpo this year is the PDB Zone, an interactive series of informal workshop sessions with your favorite PDB authors. The half-hour sessions will take place throughout both days of the show in Booth 2021 right on the show floor, kicking off on Wednesday with code expert Glenn Mathewson’s Deck Code Q&A. Mike Guertin will follow up with a couple of sessions, one on rail post connections and the other on deck railing options. Jason Russell will finish off the first day’s workshops with a social media meet-and-greet. On Thursday, Bobby Parks will get the workshops started with a look at some of his classic porch details. Later, Gary Daley (yes, America’s deck builder!) will dig into homeowner-driven deck design. Finally, NADRA president Matt Breyer and Simpson Strong-Tie’s Jim Mailey will introduce us to NADRA’s new “Deck Building Best Practices” initiative.
