Paint manufacturer Rust-Oleum has recalled its black satin countertop coating due to excess levels of lead. The recall affects one-quart containers of Rust-Oleum black countertop coating with the product number 26209 and batch code P7612D, according to the recall notice.
The affected product was sold at Ace Hardware and other stores nationwide as well as online at Amazon.com, Homedepot.com, and Walmart.com from June 2017 through February 2018. The recall notice says the coating contains levels of lead that exceed the federal lead paint ban.
Rust-Oleum advises consumers to stop using the countertop coating and contact the company. Consumers who have applied the recalled coating will receive a repair kit or replacement for the affected surfaces, according to the notice.
