Online Door Slam: The ‘Do Not Track Me Online’ Bill

Similar to the “Do Not Call” legislation introduced in 2003, the “Do Not Track Me Online” privacy bill introduced in mid-February by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) would require the Federal Trade Commission to set standards for an online opt-out so consumers can prohibit marketers from monitoring their online behavior and then using that information.
