A 58-page paperback by Dennis Fijalkowski and Mary Steele, Energy Savings for the Novice, “has a lot of comprehensive general information [about] energy in and outside of the home, and it summarizes a path to the future. It tells you how you can save,” says Bob Burnside, owner of Fireside Home Construction, in Dexter, Mich.

A green builder and remodeler for the past 15 years, Burnside makes the book available on Fireside Home Construction’s website as part of a larger marketing strategy that includes seminars on saving energy and energy-efficient building and remodeling.

“Visitors to the site can get a free book once they register their name and information,” Burnside says. “Then we put them in our database for future business.”
