The Dilly Dilly Manifesto

Mark Harari's secret to marketing, sales, and life

Mark Harari, Vice President of Remodelers Advantage, recently posted “The Dilly Dilly Manifesto” on LinkedIn, that, like any manifesto worth its salt, is a must-read. This one is especially so for anyone involved in sales or marketing of … well, just about anything.

It’s one of those bold, laugh-out-loud pieces in which Mark gives us the secret “to darn near everything.” For all his audaciousness, Mark actually has a lot to say. You won’t regret the time spent hearing him out.

It would be a total spoiler to explain the “dilly dilly” part. But here’s one excerpt that most of us need to hear; its the “It’s not about you” part.

It’s amazing how hard it is to not talk about yourself in marketing copy and sales pitches. I say that because it’s everywhere I look. The practice runs rampant across all industries. And yet it’s very preventable. A remodeling contractor’s website I recently reviewed illustrates my point.

The homepage hero shot featured a headline that read:
We Believe Everyone Deserves to Live in Style

That’s nice. I’m glad you believe that. But why should I care what you think?
I don’t know you. And your declaration doesn’t speak to me. I’m certainly not raising a glass to it.

This just a taste. Read more.
