Fairway Building Products now sells a cable rail system in 6-foot and 8-foot kits that include top and bottom rails, brackets, and screws. Kits can be ordered with what Fairway calls its FD post, in which cable fittings are attached via machine-threaded connections. With a lag connector, rail systems also can use a wood post that’s covered by a predrilled post sleeve. For stairs and other angled installations, Fairway sells a pivoting fitting.
