Winter lasts a long time in New England, but Maine contractor Christopher Hahn recently built an outdoor living area centered around a small lap pool that can be used year-round. Endless Pools – which have recirculating pumps that allow the user to continuously swim against a current – are compact enough to be installed in a basement. On this project, Hahn used ICFs (insulating concrete forms) to build a small foundation that would enclose the 10-ft. x 15-ft. pool and associated equipment while supporting a retractable cover. A new composite deck complete with an outdoor kitchen and a lower stone patio area completes the project, which Hahn built while working primarily by himself.
