A Colorado Springs, Colo., woman who’d been scammed by a deck contractor was surprised with a finished deck, thanks to a builder who heard of her plight and rounded up help from two other local companies. Ruth Baer had paid a contractor $6,000 to build her deck, but after cashing the check and framing the structure, he walked off and didn’t return.
