Collapsing Deck Dumps Four at Florida Beach House

1 MIN READ

Another week, another deck failure. News outlets in Jacksonville, Florida, report that a wood deck collapsed suddenly as vacationing grandparents were getting ready to take a family photo with their two granddaughters. Fox 30 Action News has the story (“3 injured in St. Johns County deck collapse“). The station reports, “The St. Johns County building officer tells Action News the part of the deck that collapsed was added after the home was built and was not constructed properly. An early check of records shows there’s no permit for that work. The house hasn’t been inspected since it was built in 1975.”
