Formaldehyde and Engineered Wood Products

Progress has been made to address the once common worker safety and IAQ concerns about formaldehyde. The APA Technical Note, Formaldehyde and Engineered Wood Products, addresses concerns about formaldehyde related to structural wood panels. According to the report, plywood and OSB manufactured to Voluntary Product Standard PS 1, Structural Plywood and Voluntary Product Standard PS 2, Performance Standard for Wood-Based Structural-Use Panels have such low emission levels that they are now exempt from the leading formaldehyde emission standards and regulations.
