Humid Climate Conference Coming to Austin, Texas

Get ready to get sweaty.

There’s something hot and sticky coming to Austin, Texas, in May—and we aren’t just talking about barbecue. May 21 and 22, the Austin Passive House Alliance is putting on its Humid Climate Conference: two days of building science education and construction training focused on hot and humid climate zones.

Attendees will get two days of technical instruction by nationally known experts such as Building Science Corporation’s Joe Lstiburek, LSU’s Claudette Reichel, and Lew Harriman, lead author and project manager for the ASHRAE Humidity Control Design Guide and the ASHRAE Guide for Buildings in Hot & Humid Climates. High-performance home builder and YouTube star Matt Risinger, who’s based in Austin, is on the schedule, as is successful high-performance developer Tim McDonald of Philadelphia-based Onion Flats, among others.

If you’re interested, better move fast: Organizers told JLC last week that 150 attendees are already signed up, and enrollment will be capped at 250.
