Onto the Main Floor

Next I was ready to install a full-width sheet of membrane on the main floor area of the shower. The first step was spreading a layer of unmodified thinset about 3 feet 3 inches out from the drain.

I pressed a full-width sheet of membrane into thinset, this time smoothing and pressing it down with a large flat steel trowel.

As with other areas of the floor, I worked the excess mortar over to the edges of the membrane and squeezed it out so that it could be removed.
