A good full-line remodeling company gets much of its work by referral. Those making the referrals might include past clients, other contractors, architects, real estate agents, vendors, and trade contractors.
How to make these folks who are key to your company’s success feel acknowledged?
A hand-written note sent by mail is good. Writing such a note makes you stop and reflect about your appreciation for what the referrer did.
How to make the best referrers feel special? I’m talking about those people who have referred your company several times and whose referrals have resulted in a significant amount of business.
Have an event to thank them.
Keep it simple while elegant. It could be at your office or in a private room at a restaurant. Make sure that you and your attending employees are not providing the hospitality, like pouring drinks or carrying food trays. You and your employees need to be interacting with the attendees, thanking them for all they do for your company.
Maybe there are five or 10 or 20 very special referrers in attendance. The smaller the list of invitees, the more special the event will be regarded.
For each attendee, you could have a gift that you and your staff know would make them feel special. Each gift would be unique for each recipient.
Be sure to toast all those who are there. Ideally, each of the attendees would be acknowledged by you and/or your employees.
Your goal is to have them tell other people about the event and how intimate and remarkable it was.
Your investment in these key referrers will pay off in ways that you can’t imagine. And you have given them all something that they will never forget: The fact that you truly appreciate them and what they have done for you and your company.
The cost would be in the low to mid thousands of dollars. Think about how much your company spends on marketing and about how much money these good referrers have helped your company make. Doesn’t it make sense to make the investment?
