Bosch X5L Full-Head Carbide Bits

1 MIN READ

New Bit. Rebar is the bane of concrete drilling, capable of stopping a bit dead in its tracks. If you’re using an X5L Full-Head Carbide bit from Bosch, though, you can simply switch your rotary hammer to rotation-only and keep going. The SDS-plus bits cut through rebar pretty efficiently in our trials. According to Bosch, they drill faster because of their large carbide heads and last longer because the carbide is bonded — rather than brazed — to the steel shanks. They come in 3/16- to 1/2-inch diameters and in 4- to 18-inch lengths. A 1/2-inch-by-6 1/2-inch bit costs $21. Bosch, 877/267-2499. www.boschtools.com
