Little Beaver, an American manufacturer of earth drilling equipment for professional contractors and rental centers, recently introduced two compact and lightweight units that might be of interest to fencing contractors and deck builders. The non-towable HYD-NTV11H is powered by a 9-hp Honda engine, while the towable HYD-TB11H is powered by an 11-hp engine. Both feature a balanced, torque-free design with forward and reverse auger rotation and a pressure-relief valve that stops the auger and prevents kickback, protecting the operator. The manufacturer claims that both units are suitable for one-man operation.

Little Beaver's HYD-TB11H earth drill can be pulled behind a vehicle.

The company's smaller HYD-NTV11H earth drill can be mounted in a standard 2-in. receiver hitch.
The towable HYD-TB11H drill can be fitted with either 36-inch- or 42-inch-long augers, ranging in size up to 16 inches in diameter. It has 16-inch-diameter semi-pneumatic tires and a removable ‘no-tools’ towing hitch.
The smaller HYD-NTV11H is compatible with the 36-inch auger only (augers are available with different blades–standard, carbide, and rock–for different soil conditions). To reduce weight, the power pack can be removed for transport in the back of a truck or SUV. There’s also an optional E-Z load bracket that fits in any 2-inch receiver, allowing the drill to be mounted directly to the hitch. Littlebeaver.com.
