CertainTeed’s Habito Drywall

Matt Risinger and Lauren Hunter team up at the CertainTeed booth to talk about a drywall that thinks it's plywood.

This is worth checking out: CertainTeed builds a climbing wall in its booth at IBS by screwing the little hand- and foot-hold blobs directly into the new Habito drywall – no hollow-wall anchors or other hardware required.

As Matt and Lauren explain, Habito is heavier to handle than ordinary drywall. … And it’s maybe not going to eliminate blocking in walls for kitchen cabinets, which might require a little more holding power than the rated 30 pounds per screw ….However , this panel product makes sense for installing in strategic locations where you know the occupants will likely have a lot of pictures, a flat-screen TV, speakers , or built-ins and the medicine cabinet.
