Forty-three percent of the homeowners responding to a houzz.com survey say the bathroom projects they’re commissioning or planning now will skip having a bathtub, Houzz reported today. The website’s poll also found increasing desire—particularly among those 35 and older—to put the toilet into an enclosed space.
Other findings include:
- 82% of the new master baths planned are en suite.
- 75% will keep the current room’s footprint.
- Only 52% want to leave their new master toilet exposed, “with those 35 and older more likely to provide privacy for the throne with a separate room or partition,” Houzz said.
- 91% of the new toilets being installed are high-efficiency. Younger homeowners were more likely than older counterparts to choose tankless and wall-mounted toilets.
- 55% plan on double sinks; only 35% have them now.
- 48% of the projects call for a new window, 41% for a lighted vanity, 12% will have a skylight, and 7% will have LED lights in the showerhead.
- 54% of the planned shower enclosures call for frameless glass.
Why do this work? Nearly half the
respondents want to upgrade fixtures and features, Houzz said. Other reasons
cited: 37% want to make the space more functional, 31% aim to increase home
value, 22% are responding to changes in lifestyle or family needs, and 19% of
respondents want to improve organization and storage.
The numbers are based on answers from
7,645 Houzz users who responded to an online survey in November.
