Green Cabinets. The cabinet boxes in Crystal Cabinet Works’ Green-Core line are made from either 100 percent recycled exterior-grade particleboard or plywood containing a soy-based resin. Doors and drawer fronts are produced in Lyptus (a plantation-grown eucalyptus from South America) or bamboo. Keep Dry. Broan’s Ultra Silent series bathroom fans take over when homeowners forget. The company says the units turn on or off automatically based on humidity levels. Sensitivity and run times are adjustable and can be overridden with a wall switch. Noise ratings on some models are less than 0.3 sones. Fans list for between $267 and $435. Shower Lamp. Progress’ 6-inch polycarbonate shower light uses either 26-watt or 32-watt triple-tube compact fluorescents. Its Firebox recessed mounting system (left) provides a fire rating of up to one hour (where required) without any additional caulk, joint tape, or gaskets.
