The recall impacts over 1,600 units of the product.

Lennox Industries has recalled its Ductless Single-Zone and Multi-Zone heat pumps due to fire hazards, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall involves approximately 1,650 units of the heat pumps, according to a release from the CPSC.

According to the CPSC, internal components of the heat pumps can fail, allowing the units to overheat, posing a fire threat. There have been two reports in Canada of the units overheating. One report included a small hole in the heat-pump motor due to melting and the other reported a fan blade and motor catching fire. No injuries have been reported related to the fire hazards of the heat pumps.

The recalled heat ducts were sold at independent dealers nationwide between January 2016 and November 2019. The recall includes three models of the Lennox Single-Zone and Multi-Zone heat pumps, with products identifiable by the model and serial number located on the nameplate on the side of units. The CPSC provides the model and serial numbers involved in the recall and advises consumers contact their installing servicers, dealer, or contractor to arrange free replacement of the unit. Additionally, Lennox is contacting all known independent dealers about the recall directly and dealers will contact consumers to arrange removal and replacement of the outdoor units.
