As of April 1 Maryland is the first state in the U S to endorse the International Green Construction Code House Bill 372 authorizing state regulators or town officials to adopt the green code as an alternative to the International Building Code or International Residential Code passed easily in the Maryland legislature with the House voting in favor by 130 to 10 and the Senate passing the law unanimously (46-0) The new law will take effect in March 2012 But that s just the beginning The law authorizes the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) to adopt the
