Top Sales Tool
Bob Fleming recently purchased a Motion Computing tablet PC with stylus to use as a sales presentation tool. “It’s really a computer with 40 gigabytes of memory,”he says. He likes it because it is smaller and lighter than a laptop. “It’s about the size of a binder and only weighs about 3 pounds,”he says.
In the office it slips into a dock, and he can use it with a full-size monitor, keyboard, and mouse. “Wherever I am, I always have all of my data with me,”Fleming says.
He has 2,000 photos of past projects on the tablet to show past clients. “If they mention a style or a porch detail, I can pull up a photo,”he says. He has before and after photos paired up and can even run a slide show of projects.
The remodeler also downloaded product specification sheets from manufacturer Web sites onto the tablet to help clients specify products for their projects. “We are selling the intangible. It does not become tangible until we deliver it and they live in it,” he says. “Pictures help a lot.”
