Last fall at the Deck Expo, the folks at the Camo booth strongly hinted that they were just about to release about a “new and revolutionary” deck fastening tool that would be far faster than traditional methods. To deliver on that promise, National Nail (the company that owns Camo) recently announced that it will be launching the new Camo Drive tool at the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas later this month. The Drive tool is an extension attachment that can be fitted to any drill/driver, and that can be loaded with the company’s collated Edge or Face screws for square-edged decking. Camo says the tool will be available March 1, with an MSRP of $169.95. Here’s a look at the tool in action.
For grooved decking, the tool can also be used with the company’s new EdgeClip hidden fasteners. These are designed with legs that fit over the joist to hold the clips in place while you’re laying down the decking (no predrilling required). After you slide the next row of decking in place so that both sides are engaged by the clips, you drive the clip screws down into the joist. A Never-Miss guide (for use with any drill/driver) is packaged with each box of clips, but you can also install the clips with the Drive tool, which can be fitted with a special clip attachment instead of collated fasteners. Here’s a look at the new clip system:
There’s also a clip for angled decking. The Camo EdgeXClip is fitted with wings that are squeezed together and inserted into the deck groove, which holds the clip in place until it is screwed to the joist.

CAMO's EdgeClip hidden fastener system comes in two versions. This clip (shown here) is designed for angled decking, and has wings that are fitted into the deck groove prior to installation to hold the clip in place.
The MSRP for a 90-count package of the EdgeClips, which will also be available starting March 1, is $39.95. A 90-count package of the EdgeXClips lists for $43.95. Camofasteners.com
