ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units) or Accessory Structures is one of those things that is starting to become a thing but isn’t a thing yet. Not really.
But, if it becomes one, it could be a really cool thing you might just want to be ready for.
And, like other things that aren’t things yet, ADUs are finding their way around the designer community that like to spell things differently, like this Scandinavian-inspired (read: Short on details; everything is a cube of some sort) Plus Haus in Builder mag.
Still, I’m following it—I wrote about “houses” for sale on Amazon here—because, in part, building these is what I want to do when I grow up.
But also seriously, I think this type of building serves many masters and business models—from customers with all kinds of needs from elder care to home offices to kids coming back from college—and being positioned as a business to offer this makes sense to me.
