Last week Bosch announced they will be introducing a saw with flesh detection technology in the fall of this year, and then unveiled the tool at JLC LIVE. It wasn’t completely unexpected; Bosch previewed the tool at The World of Concrete (WOC) to a group of journalists who cover the tool industry. I was there but unable to write about it after because like everyone else in attendance, I had to sign a nondisclosure agreement. Fortunately, the agreement no longer covers this saw.

Little information about the saw was released at WOC; we heard about some of its features and saw a demonstration of the safety mechanism. There were many questions from the audience but few answers from Bosch—not because they didn’t know but because they were probably still working on how to present their machine to the world.

As of last week’s announcement, we know what Bosch has to say about their new saw. I was lucky enough to be at JLC LIVE when the tool was unveiled and to spend some time with the product manager. The video below was shot at the show and covers most of what you will likely want to know about this saw. If you don’t feel like watching all the way through, here are some of the highlights:

00:00-02:50 General features
02:50-08:20 Flesh-sensing technology
08:20-12:36 Scaring the heck out of a hotdog while demonstrating the safety system
