Milwaukee In-Line 7 1/4-inch Circ Saw

Corded power. No cord.

2 MIN READ

If you’re someone who will give away your worm drive when they pry it from your cold, dead hands, Milwaukee’s new cordless in-line saw may be worth a second look for you. Light, powerful, and no cord turned heads at the Milwaukee Media Event (and place that is officially louder than the job site. Check out my video below. That pounding in the background is from people bump firing into LVL with the new diesel cordless spiker).

At first glance, the saw’s fit and finish is nice. And even though I struggle with the battery a little toward the end of the video, that was probably more me than the tool. I had just gotten a chance to get the camera set up and have some time with the saw to shoot the video.

One thing. If you cut a lot of I-joists, the depth of cut—not listed in any specs I could find—is 2 ½-inches*. Not quite enough to get through an I-joist cord.

But for decks, general remodeling, and 2-by framing, I don’t see that as being a big drawback. Milwaukee further adds it chose between getting a little extra depth of cut for a beefed-up shoe, which it surely seems to be.

Rear-handle goodness. Hold tight.

*I’m 100% taking credit for my friend who thought to ask that question while I clamored to make sawdust.

And that’s @jjsqualityhomes there at the end. Nice work. Nice guys. Maybe give him a follow on the IG.
