First, if you don’t know Robin at Skill Builder on YouTube (and I don’t), he’s 100% from another country and yet further proof we could talk cooler in America. Fasteners are called “fixings.” Lumber is “timbah” and they seem to have adopted the Metric system.
Despite sounding cool, he also shows in excellent detail how to lay out a scarf joint in 2-by, which he says is ideal for long hips and ridges (not floor joists). And, if my eyes don’t deceive me, he is framing with treated southern pine.
I’ve never seen anybody frame with this detail here, but it may be handy on other projects or applications. Watch the video.
