Traditionally, track saws have been used for the sort of fussy cuts made while building cabinets or cutting inlays into flooring. But according Mark Ellis, a deck builder in Los Gatos, CA, there’s no reason why deck builders shouldn’t use them too. I agree; cabinet makers and finish carpenters are not the only ones who need to make straight clean cuts. On a recent project I used a track saw to trim the top of a fence straight and level and the bottom straight and parallel to the ground.
