All but two of the tools in Michael Springer’s 2010 review of 5-inch random orbit sanders are still being made. He recently tested 5-inch models that were not included in the original test. Instead of re-testing tools that haven’t changed we’re linking to the original article and noting which models are current and which are not (Craftsman Pro 27673 and Porter-Cable 390K have been discontinued).
Between the two articles you should be able to make comparisons between 12 popular 5-inch models currently available. The bar charts below contain data from the 2010 story–formatted in way that makes it easier to read.
