TTS Tooltechnic Systems, a privately-owned German company that owns Festool, is acquiring SawStop LLC, which manufactures a line of table saws with flesh-sensing technology. According to a recent release from SawStop, the deal is expected to be completed in July 2017. TTS also owns Tanos (which makes Systainers) and a handful of other small tool companies, and employs about 2,500 people around the world, though SawStop will continue to operate out of its headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon. The deal comes after SawStop successfully blocked Bosch from selling or importing to the United States their own version of a table saw with flesh-sensing – the REAXX – this spring. Terms of the deal weren’t announced.
