Wouldn’t you say that about 90% of us are what I call “allergic to paint”? Maybe this one is more for your designer than you. But check it out: the Nix Mini color matcher.
Having to go from carpentry to painting makes me cringe, but I do it. As a remodeler who has done his fair share of small projects, I find it’s often easier to paint the bathroom or the living room I put the crown or shiplap in than manage somebody else to do it. I’m a B to B+ when I’m in my groove, which works for most clients, and I get to keep the money.

Matching a color has always been a hunt-and-peck for a piece of drywall I could break off or that was removed for a repair. Next, it’s a trip to the paint store for me and Pete the Paint Guy to match up samples by eye after he uses his hair dryer to dry them. I’m sure you’ve done the same.
Well, now, there’s magic computer stuff and phones. And while they’re cool, lighting is an issue when you take a picture of something and use that as the paint sample.
But not for this hundred-dollar Nix doodad. It can also match to popular paint brands and collections, and—if you’re being asked for design input—it suggests color palettes. The Nix goes right on the work, so lighting and shadow isn’t an issue. You can save favorite palettes to swatches in the app and share them with clients.
