I saw this tool a few weeks back at a media event in Milwaukee and I was immediately taken with it. What’s not to like about a pipe wrench that does not need a separate cheater bar—because the handle threads in and can be replaced by any length of 3/4-inch pipe you want? The manufacturer doesn’t recommend doing this but you could if you wanted. And you might not need to because the wrench comes with two handles, one short and one long.
It’s not just the handle that’s interesting; the Cheater is about the size of a 10-inch wrench but the jaw opening is that of an 18-inch wrench (up to 2 1/2”). But the jaw thickness matches that of a 14-inch wrench so it works in tight quarters. According to its maker, the wrench grips farther over center, so it puts more teeth on the pipe. I’m not a plumber or pipefitter but I love this tool! Price: about $100. Click here for video. Available: February 2016. See video below.
