You Had Me at Timber Frame

Check this website for plans and ideas for projects both large and small.

If your motto is “caulk and paint make a carpenter what he ain’t,” then skip this one.

I’ve always been a sucker for the beauty of raw wood and structural joinery. But when I learned about timber framing, I realized that there are carpenters and then there are carpenters.

Recently, I ran across Timberframe HQ on the internet and noticed that it has “free” plans for three accessible-looking projects: a pergola, a saw horse, and a bench. And by “free,” I mean, you have to sign up for its newsletter.

But I also noticed that TFHQ may actually be a resource for more than jaw-dropping pictures of very expensive projects. There are some sweet pergola ideas, a swing set, and plans for pavilions and other smaller structures. But the website also talks about bathroom remodeling and other down-to-earth stuff. It also has a layout tool, which I write about here.
