Better For Everyone Although we’re responsible for bringing our own tools to job-sites, practicality dictates that we have tools that safely fit a wide variety of grips — both small and large. Borrowing back and forth during the course of a job happens every day. We need to have tools everyone can use safely.
Here’s what I’d like to see: a removable clip-style piece that goes around a tool’s handle to increase its diameter. That way, smaller grips can be increased for our male counterparts and women have the safety of a handle that fits our grip.
That’s a win-win for everyone on the jobsite. Additionally, it would give manufacturers a larger market share, because those of us who “window shop” would buy more tools if they fit our hands properly.
What else would I like to see? A selection of toolbelts that would fit my hips comfortably. Norma Vally, of Discovery Home Channel’s Toolbelt Diva, is planning that — you can bet I’ll be first in line when those become available in my area. —Tisha Kuntz is a construction project manager and consultant for Crest Construction in North Hollywood, Calif.
