Home Depot Gets Wise to Forged Coupon Scheme

1 MIN READ

A New York man has been arrested and accused of using fake coupons to steal Bosch and Milwaukee power tools from a Home Depot store in Long Island.

Dianfenf Jiang allegedly created fake buy-one-get-one-free coupons for tools. According to a story in the Farmingdale Patch, Jiang would use a coupon to buy two tools at one Home depot store and then return the tools for refunds at another – pocketing the value of the tool that was free. Home Depot became suspicious when they saw Jiang’s name appearing on a lot of returns. It is estimated that Home Depot lost $7,000 to the scam. Jiang was arrested and charged with grand larceny and possession of a forged instrument.
