So Dirt Farmer Jay seems to be something of an all-around handy guy. Not a contractor. But his tutorial on winding extension cords has more than 3 million views and looks legit.
Personally—largely because I haven’t learned how to do this and my old habits die so hard Bruce Willis is going to make his next movie about them—I don’t like what I call the woven method. I prefer the reach-and-pull coil, and I cinch the cord ends with a small piece of rope tied in a granny knot. I can also use this same rope to stack multiple cords in one, organized bundle.
What’s your preferred coil style? Does it depend on the length, gauge of cord?
