Euro Hauler. Small service and delivery outfits now have a compact, fuel-efficient alternative to a full-size truck or van: Ford’s 2010 Transit Connect. Unlike a minivan with the seats removed, this vehicle is purpose-built for commercial use. The 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine rates an EPA-estimated 22 miles per gallon in the city, 25 on the highway. The van will also serve as the platform for Ford’s first mainstream electric vehicle, to be marketed next year. The base sticker price is $21,475. Ford, 800/392-3673. www.ford.com
